The I Ching is a scientific and philosophical observation of heaven and earth, and how humans fit between the two realms. I Ching, meaning the “Book of Change,” is believed to be the works of Fu-Hsi, a Chinese tribal chief about 6,000 years ago. Chief Fu-His is also believed to have created symbols of the Yin and Yang concept – the idea of Yin and Yang as polarities manifesting in the body as well as the environment around us.
By combining the Yin and Yang symbols, the eight trigrams were formed. By mixing these eight trigram symbols, called Ba-Gua, the 64 hexagrams were born. These hexagrams represent the psychological, ethical and spiritual states of conscious mind.
